Leeds first stop for specialist careers event

STEMtech Logo high resIt is predicted that over 60% of jobs in the next 10 years will require skills in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). It is essential that students and young job seeker factor this in to study and career choices. Young people in the Yorkshire region are being offered a headstart by attending a specialist STEM careers expo and finding out everything they need to know about the exciting possibilities open to those with STEM skills.

The first STEMtech LIVE! careers expo is taking place on February 13th at Leeds’ New Dock Hall, kicking off a series of nationwide STEMtech events planned for 2015. It will be of particular interest to GCSE and A Level students, as well as recent school or college leavers and graduates. “This event brings an inspiring range of opportunities direct to students at a time in their life when they are making key decisions that will determine their future,” says event organiser, Tina Lucas. “STEMtech LIVE! careers events are an opportunity for young people to find out about the future of work in these industries and receive real advice, guidance and access to experts, employers and further and higher education providers.” Visitors will have the chance to speak with local and national organisations, colleges, universities,apprenticeship providers, employers and recruiters. Pre-booked groups will be given a 90-minute slot to get in-depth advice and support in two specialist zones. The Career Zone, sponsored by recruitment experts Capita, will offer clear guidance and advice on qualifications, employability skills and job hunting. The Enterprise Zone, supported by the Prince’s Trust, will offer mini information sessions on setting up on your own, using STEM career case studies, followed by time for Q&A. STEMtech LIVE! will be at the New Dock Hall in Leeds on Friday 13th February 2015 from 10:00am until 4:00pm.
